Really want to Tweet “I’m just going back to bed if Twitter is going to be over capacity all day” but I can’t because it’s over capacity. IMPORTANT UPDATE: I did not go back to bed, but I did decide to have gruyere for breakfast.

"Bar Luck" by Derrick Brown
She said to me as I was leaving “Are you going to go have fun somewhere else?” I said “Well there’s too many people out tonight.” She said “Thursday’s the new Saturday” I said “Friday’s the new Christmas, and you just missed Hanukkah.” I am not Jewish. I closed out with the waitress, she said “You’re lucky, I wish I...

That thing where you try to say “Smitten Kitchen,” as in the food blog, and accidentally say “Smitten Kitten,” as in the feminist sex shop. Which, by the way, is a great one.

From my dictionary of obscure pleasures
That one where an elderly Midwestern couple in collegiate sweatshirts stares at you from across the airport gate and you wish they knew that they were watching you check Grindr. (Lord, if his profile popped up…)

What O'Hare does to my logic
Me: I'm sitting on the floor at my gate because everyone's taking up two freaking seats.
SSD: Well why don't you ask someone to move over?
Me: Because then I'd have to sit by someone.

Color healing.
Me: i feel my heart knocking
oxxenfree: i think you should look at some green
oxxenfree: do you have a green garment you could wrap yourself in?
oxxenfree: or maybe bury your face in a houseplant
Me: my houseplant is fucking purple
oxxenfree: wow. that's gay.

In case you were wondering...
It turns out I can’t just impulsively choose new bedding. First I have to consult Google to find words to describe the color I’m envisioning. Then tweet what Wikipedia says about the comfort level of throw pillows. Then decide I’m going to read about room colors and moods but never actually get around to it because I’m too busy narrating the whole damn process, and besides,...

FYI, my sister's life is not all dragon...
Me: how are you? I can't wait to see you.
Sister: basil is very excited
i've been telling her that you're coming to visit
also, she got a new stuffed dragon for christmas and she destroyed it this morning
we found her wandering around with red fuzz hanging off her lips
and then came upon the carnage in the living room
it was traumatic
there were red, orange, and yellow pieces everywhere
...
Sister: my life is not all dragon destruction and blog comment moderation...those just happened to be the updates that came to mind

White gay: What do you look for in a city?
Me: Happy brown people.
White gay: That makes me think of Tijuana. I lived there for four months.
Me: Happy Tijuana. Sounds fishy.
White gay: Well, you know, white people can be happy and unhappy.
Me: Irrelevant.
